Raid 5 add additional HDD

Hi

I have a server (poweredge 1800) with a raid 5 storage solution (at present we have 3 hdd with 36gb) unfortunately we need to upgrade thus we have installed a hdd that is 70GB - however i understand that because the raid is 36gb, the new hdd will only use that amount.

That is fine however i cannot use the new hdd as it has not been picked up and shared the new space, so my server is still running low on hdd space.

Any idea where i am going wrong. This raid is hardware raid

    You will need you manual. You will need to re-build the array with the new drive in place. Some systems have a special routine that you run to add an additional drive.

    Hi i have looked around for a manual and have not been succesful.

    To rebuild an array is this done is the array parameters. The net does not give much info on how to add additional hdd to a raid 5 config
