Mini ITX?

I found a cool site for Mini-ITX stuff, but alas it's in the UK. I wanna build a tiny system as a smoothwall firewall/router, but I would hate for it to cost too much, like $200 max if possible.

Know of any good sites? Also any good hardware to look for?

the minimum requirements for smoothwall are amazingly small, its like a P150MHZ, 96mb of ram 2gigs of hard drive space and 2 nics.

oh also newegg is selling ITX suff

id go after that first one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813153045

but the bad part is then you have to get a itx case, psu, and another nic, they do make itx boards with 2 nics but they are like $260 by themselves. i roccomend the small machine i used, but then you have to find a p4m

A major problem I am seeing is the additional NIC I need... none of the mini itx cases allow for using a angled riser PCI peice so that I can keep the system small and compact.

Otherwise, I would need to find this

With two nic's built in, which would be SWEET.

some of the boards of logic supply support addonn cards that have multiple nics on them.

before you commit for smoothwall make sure they are supported by it. i had to use the alpha version to detect my onboard gigabit nic

I think I'll use a spare computer for now and buy an AP for it, and test with smoothwall before doing anything major, I wanna have max security and speed on my system.

I wonder if smoothwall has a AAA type of system.. if you don't know what that is it's basically instead of WEP or anything you can connect to the AP, but when you try to go anywhere in your browser you just get redirected to a login screen for a user name and password which must go through before you get internet access.

it has somthing like that i know. it has a builkt in web proxy.

when you configure smoothwall theres diffrent types of interfaces. each one using another nic card.

    red - from the internet
    green - to the lan
    blue - to a WAP
    orange - to DMZ

id just dredge their forums looking for it. theres TONS of information on there.

oh yea, from the green port you wanna use a switch, dont go directly into a router, and if you do turn gateway mode off on the router and hook smooth wall up to one of the switch ports, NOT THE WAN!
