Microsoft has heard the uproar...

Vista will not launch with the previously announced limits on hardware changes....but will restrict versions on OE systems. I wonder if this means that the OE copies enthusiasts usually opt for will still have the restriction?

I don't know why any enthusiast would pick an OEM copy.

XP Pro - OEM (means you have to buy hardware - yep, probably doing that...) - $139.99

    XP Pro - Retail - $186.99

    Maybe I'm just cheap....

If I had a nice setup or a customer... OEM. If not, retail.
