Radeon 9600 Pro-Cat 3.7/8-UT2003
Hello all! I ran accross your forum and thought...maybe I would find someone thats had this issue as well....
As you can see my rig specs below... I have a Ati 9600 Pro...
As Im a Unreal Tournament 2003 player, with Catalyst 3.7 and 3.8
..UT2003 locks up. I have not only tried changing settings but, formatted to only find the same answer. I can say that if I disable fast writes...the issue goes away along with my fps and benchmark scores. I have been useing Catalyst 3.6 since its release with no issues. Other D3D apps I have worked well with 3.7 and 8 [Unreal Tournament 99' DirectX 7 , D3D screensavers] but not in UT2003.
Anyway...just thought I would give it a shot if someone els had these issues and could lend some advice.
Thx for any advice/input!
btw-
AGP aperture set to 64mb
RAID striping 0[32k] set on 2xMaxtor ATA133 30G
VIA Hyperion 4.49
DX 9.0b

Other than the apparent anomaly of fastwrites affecting your scores (It, ~98% of the time, does not) I see nothing wrong.
I'll have to dwell on it.
Im sure 3.6 will be back in before long as I enjoy UT03 to much..
Ive even changed my DDR timing even to try and find why
UT2003 and, only UT2003 locks up. Ive noticed sometimes my screen even goes blank and my monitor says "Out of scan range"
if thats any help. As I was saying before, I can disable Fast writes
and the problem goes away along with a average of 10fps.
Well...anyway, I think Im kicking a dead horse....my first Ati and maybe the last. I can honestly say, Ive never had this kind of issue with a Nvidia GPU.
