Welcome home, All in Wonder 9700 Pro!
Mmmmm... got my All in Wonder 9700 Pro back from ATI today. I had to RMA it a couple weeks ago because it was producing legions of artifacts that generally manifested themselves as Matrix-esque vertical columns of constantly-shifting pixels of green and yellow (variform shades). While this produced a pretty trippin' effect in CounterStrike, it became difficult to see the crosshairs at times... The blue and green striped corrupted textures were pretty occasionally too.
I've been using my old GeForce 3 Ti500 for the duration, and damned if those Detonators didn't want to uninstall today. The uninstaller for my Det 45.23 crashed, so I had to clean the Registry by hand.
You never quite realize how much you've missed a graphics card like the AiW until you get it back. There is something inherently right about watching Macross Zero fansubs on my TV at 720x480 through the component video out on my AiW while chatting on AIM on my monitor. The new card is faster too, my old AiW scored 4452 3Dmarks (03), while the new card cranks out 4665 3Dmarks on the same Catalyst 3.7 pack. Soooo goood!
Mmmmm... back to the land of transparent menus & windows, fast framerates at 1600x1200, and warm, antialiased polygons.
