Fedora on USB drive?

I am working through a Linux book that uses Fedora 4(I guess it's a little old since Fedora 6 is out), but I am doing this on my laptop which I already have Windows on. I would like to try to install Fedora 6 on my 40GB USB Drive, rather than take the drive out and swap it each time I wanna use the other OS.

Am I able to do this non-destructively? I don't mind reformatting the USB drive, I just don't want Windows to be overwritten.

If you can get your laptop to boot off USB then you're good to go. Otherwise, you'll have to install grub (a bootloader) on your Windows drive which will overwrite NTloader. Grub is pretty smart though and can boot Windows so it might not be a problem.
