Due to a manufacturing defect, GTX cards from a particular batch, are plagued with a faulty resistor controlling 2D/3D switching, which as a result will cause hard locks after a few hours of use.

Nvidia confirmed the issue, but said it won't change their shipping and announcement plans. Most of the cards are in reviewers hands. Although none of them have complained thus far, the resistor still needs to be changed to prevent any problems in the future.
The bottom line is that your card that you buy from Wednesday onwards should be trouble free and if not, the partners will fix it as soon as possible - we hope.
