no input from monitor, plus more!
this is my first time posting EVER. so be gentle. i go in my room today and my computer (emachines T2865) is turned off, which it has randomly been doing the past 3 days. monitor is on (emachines E15T) with it looks to be a frozen still of the screen saver, just the black one with the windows logo usually flying around. but the screen again frozen, and in what should be black is little lines of red which look to be moving, first time i've ever seen it. so i click on the mouse, still frozen, and then i try rebooting. monitor shoes a "no input signal" message, normal when the computer is off. so i try and power it up, fans on, computer sounds good, i'm just waiting for an image and still the no input signal.
things i've done:
- checked connections: no changes
- unplugged 3rd party hardware: no changes
- power cycled: no changes
- blew out the dust from inside the tower: no changes
* after blowing out, plugged computer in and it started automatically and now i cannot turn the computer off/on by the power button at all, it just works by plugging it in/out?
- plugged in a known working monitor 2, it didn't display any picture
- installed another compatible video card: no changes, tested with monitor 2.
hmmm, so i'm tapped out. hope this isn't too confusing to anyone. i saw something about resetting CMOS? you tell me.
