Is file sharing enabled overall? What is the permission level of the User, as in Administrator, etc?

Do you have a password on the account?

I have ran into this problem when a user has passworded their account and then selected there information to be "private". (When you apply the password it will as you if you want to set the permission of all your files to be private)

When you try to share anything user specific such as My Docs or your desktop, it will not allow sharing because you have set your files to be private.

However, the other folders outside of your user folder will share just fine as you said.

it shows that documents and settings/Alvin folder is set to private but i cannot disable that on the folder, just like it wont let me select the box for sharing the folders.

I dont have a password to get onto the pc as well.
