XP hangs on DVD media player shutdown
I have a problem that no one has been able to figure out. If I put a DVD in to one of my DVD drives and watch it with WinDVD 5 or WMP 9 and then try to eject or close the player, the system freezes and won't respond to anything. I have no conflicts in device manager and I get no errors, just a frozen screen. I have the latest video card drivers and I also tried reinstalling them to no avail. This is very puzzling and it worked fine until this past week. The only thing that I did was install the latest Forceware 93.71 drivers. I've already requested support with Nvidia to see if that could be the problem. I tried to watch a DVD in safe mode and nothing appeared in the window even though WMP 9 said it was playing and when I shut it down, it didn't freeze so I'm inclined to think it is a software error of some sort. Can anyone help me try to identify this problem?
Thanks in advance!

After that, try again. If it works...sweet! If not ... post back.
Yes, I have tried that and unfortunately, there are only two drivers that work with my card and neither work. I can play CD's with the media players fine, but when I try a DVD in either DVD drive, it freezes. I've also tried to do it in safe mode but the system needs the video drivers to play the DVD. I wish it would at least give me an error message so I could find out where to start. I am going to wait for some new video drivers and if that doesn't work, I'll probably end up doing a fresh XP install.
