Six Microsoft updates will be released Tuesday morning, including two bearing the company's highest threat rating of "critcal."

Five updates target Windows and one targets a security flaw in XML Core Services that has become a popular exploit for hackers.
Typically, the Redmond, Wash. developer doesn't disclose the exact components, services, or applications to be patched prior to delivering the updates on the second Tuesday of each month. But the fix for Microsoft XML Core Services, a flaw that's currently being attacked by hackers, was specifically called out in the advance alert.
These six patches will push this year's total number of security fixes to 71, just one fix short of 2002's record of 72. And there's still a month to go.
