Windows won't boot or install!

On my desktop, I was trying to install windows xp professional again, since HP told me to erase the entire hard drive when my desktop would keep restarting when it hit the "Windows XP" screen. So I'm tryin to reinstall it and now it keeps giving me this blue screen that says the setupdd.sys is damaged. What does that mean? Then it says check for bios updates. Well how can I update if my desktop doesn't even have windows installed on it right now.

    See if this helps. If you're not sure of what you're doing, please ask first, we don't want to make things worse. :)

    It might also pay to clean the discs and examine them carefully to see if they are scratched.
