something bad has happened to avg[inactive]

Ive had avg installed for a long time then i started getting warnings that something bad has happened to avg and my computer was crashing. so i uninstalled it the uninstall was a battle and i had to remove it in safe mode by deleting its files and its registry files one by one. I reinstalled it a couple weeks later and then again it started after being in for over a month. i started getting the pop up again that something bad had happened to avg.

my hj log is clean as far as i can tell but could this be a virus? im running windows 98se what in the world could be causing this?

i have removed all the registry files this time but apparently im missing one becasue on boot up the computer is stilll looking for avg. where all should like look for it i have deleted it in local machine>software and current user>software could this be a virus are there any online scanners out there that still scan 98
