Possible IDE Problems?

Dear Friends here at Short-Media. I seem to be having a bit of an issue with my computer. I am using windows XP home edition. I have been using this install for a few months with no problems and all of a sudden it is giving me blue screens of death. It does happen randomly but only when I am using my computer (not when it is idle). For example I will be browsing the internet and I hit enter to go to a site, then bam, blue screen of death, or I will go to load up a program and bam, blue screen of death. My friend thinks it could be a faulty IDE cable and that doesn't sound too outragous. Any ideas?

Do a thorough memory test. Docmem is a good way to do that. If you want to test the IDE cable theory, that's easy enough to do, too. (And wouldn't hurt).

    But I'd suspect a memory problem. :rolleyes2

Ditto. It could be a ide cable, that would be what I would test after the memory test. What are the system specs, are you overclocking?
