Toshiba A35 overheats...cleaned it...won't start now:
I have a Toshiba A35 -S 135 Satelite laptop,

I did everything as mentioned in the article on cleaning up the heatsink now the fan runs for 3 seconds and nothing happens,Fan turns off and nothing boots up. I get a totally dark black screen, any ideas??

I followed these articles,
1. http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=258
2.Toshiba Satellite A35 laptop overheating problem. How to clean fans and heatsink.
http://www.laptopka.com/category/laptop-satellite/toshiba-satellite-a35/
3.http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA35/Satellite-A35-fixing-overheating.htm

I think I did everything needed,
1. with unlock position, I removed the heatsink, It came along with the CPU on it.
2. I had carefully separated the CPU from the heatsink and cleaned it up
3. I checked the pins of the CPU seems to be all okay and alligned,
4. and placed it back and locked it with out any pressure it seems to fit in properly in the slot, The CPU and the socket are keyed, so there is only one correct way to insert the CPU. but still doesnt boot. Only thing is I dint apply any thermal grease.

Model and partnumber:
Satellite: A35 S-135
Part Number: PSA30U-ITC4CV

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It's possible that you had some static and might have fried something. It's critical to be grounded at all times while working on an open laptop.

I'm not sure if there's a jumper to reset the bios, but try pulling the internal battery (not main battery) and let it sit for a few mins. Press the power button to drain all the capacitors.

    Gotta try everything.
