Sound Driver problem

edited November 2006 in Science & Tech
Hi all,

I bought a sound card today cuz my on board sound wasn't working. I installed the driver and the sound worked good. It gave me a message saying i should restart my computer. When i did the "windows loading" screen came, but the login screen did not. It just showed a black screen after the windows loading screen. So i restarted my computer and went to "Last Known Good Configuration". Then windows booted up normally, but the speakers didn't work. So i had to re-install the driver. But the same thing happened after i restarted

I tried reinstalling like 3 times, and each time windows didn't boot normally. I hope you guys can help me out! I dont want to re install the driver everytime i start my computer!

and...

The sound card that i am using is "Retail Plus 6 Channel 3D PCI Sound Card"

Runnning on WIndows XP Pro

system specs:

Asus A8N SLI Deluxe motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
250GB HD SATAII
1GB Ocz ram
XFX Nvidia Geforce 6800GS

Thanks for your help!

Did you disable the onboard sound that comes with your motherboard?

Consult your motherboard's manual. Look for the section that'll let you disable the onboard audio in the BIOS.

What kind of soundcard is this again? I've never heard of it, and frankly, it sounds like a shoddy product.

its a Retail Plus 6 Channel 3D PCI Sound Card....(i posted it in my first post)

yea its not a popular card...ive searched google for it but its not giving many results.

also i looked for updated drivers....i went to the official site and downloaded the one that was there (cuz it could be updated). But i think it was the same, it gave the same problem.

also i got the blue screen of death like 3 times rightwhen the driver finished installing....(ive tried installing it a few more times...) and the computer just restarted.

somehow...that screen didn't come up this time.

i also emailed my problem to their customer support...i hope they reply back.
