D is for "Damn you! WORK!"

A friend of mine is having a little problem with his D drive. (I'll get him to post soon.)

Whenever he inserts a disc there is just some whirring and it acts as if there isn't a disc in there at all. He's tried uninstalling it and re-installing on start-up but to no avail.

I would have asked for specific information on the problem, but I wasn't sure what people would need to know. So I thought I'd just post the problem first.

10:1 is that it's a bad drive. You'll want to unplug it in the case and plug it back in to rule out faulty connections, but this is a very common symptom of drives going (Or having gone) the way of the dodo.

    Thanks.

He tried it, but it seems it's still giving the same message.

Is there anything else? Or is he just going to need a new one? >_<

I'm with Thrax. That's how they act when they go bad. Optical drives aren't that expensive. Get another one and plug it in. If we're wrong you can take it back.
