Total War II Medieval Problems

edited December 2006 in Gaming
Hi - just bought this game on a new ish laptop bought last year. (Total War II Medieval)

the game installed and sound and everything works.

When I go into the battle scenes the graphics are like very very jolty - frame by frame.

I figured it was something to do with the demands of the game so set everything to 'low' but this didnt make a decision - do I need a new video card or is there a way I can make it better?

Somebody please help!!!!

Thanks

I think it might be this - Intel® Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory but I'll check for sure tonight (I compared this on the dell website - to what I've bought)

I'm sorry, Curious, that video card is barely more powerful than video cards made for desktops about 3 years ago. On some laptops, it's not even enough to run the new Windows Vista interface. There's nothing you can do to improve the video performance of your laptop, it is what it is. :( 950 is awful, just awful.

To sum up what Thrax has said. Your laptop is built with Intel's Onboard Media Accelerator 950 which shares 256MB of memory with your CPU. You are unable to upgrade this item as it is on the motherboard and laptops like yours are not meant to be upgraded or are not able to be upgraded... Unless, you have a really low spec'ed XPS from Dell :( “which I doubt as XPS Laptops come with a removable GPU”. In most aspects you would have been able to play most of your older games on low and medium settings. But M2 requires a bit more graphics processing which the 950 just can't push out.

Why is your summed-up post longer than Thrax's? :buck:
