Desperate!

Hardware SITREP:
AMD XP on AOPEN AK 73 proa mobo Phoenix Award BIOS 1.20
VANTECH UGT-ST200 Serial ATA PCI host card BIOS 4.3.76<new>
Seagate ST3300622AS (300 GB SATA HD) <new>

I have exhausted my limited knowledge with my problem. I am attempting to install a new SATA seagate 300 GB HD using a PCI Serial ATA Host Adataptor. When booting, after system POST test, the card BIOS showing hard drive comes up, then PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD is displayed. Since I am trying to install windows, that's what I do. Upon key being depressed a blank screen appears and nothing happens. The CD rom light fails to come on. If key is not struck the system just stops. Vantec has been zero help and is giving me the run around. Any help would be great!!!

Can you describe exactly what you did?
From your post it appears you installed the seagate as a new C drive and then expected to install windows on it all in one go.
    Is this what happened?

Never mind, I discovered the problem is a fried mobo. Thanks anyway.
