Refresh rates on LCD vs CRT monitors?
I recently got my Samsung 204B LCD, and it works pretty good. It seems to have a 60 hertz default refresh rate.
My old 19" flatscreen Envision CRT monitor also had that, but I could see the screen flicker unless I turned it up to 75 hertz. And when taking video of the CRT screen, that was best done at 100 hertz.
I'm just wondering if LCD monitors benefit any from faster refresh rates like CRT monitors do. Would it even be much of a performance enhancement for games like World of Warcraft?
My new video card is a Radeon X700 Pro 256 MB GDDR3, and in WoW, I have all the display settings cranked all the way up. I'm not even sure what antriscopic (sp?) filtering is, but I cranked it up too! Got to look it up on google. It did sputter a little on 75 hertz, but backing it down to 60 again fixed that.
