Help! I accidently accepted the winstall.exe virus that unables me to use MSN and that sends me contant pop-ups. I have nooo idea how to get rid of it. Someone please please please help me.

    Please download VundoFix.exe
    to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
    Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
    In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
    instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when
    VundoFix appears at reboot.

    Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

    Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
    Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

    ok, it's safe then..please go here to make sure you can see hidden files/folders->http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html#winxp then do this..Please run the BitDefender online scan from here; http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
    You will need to allow an active x install for the scan to run.
    Leave the scanning options at default and press "click here to scan"
    When finished scanning, click on "click here to export the scan report"
    Save it to your desktop, at "file name" type in "bdscan" then click save.
    Please zip the bdscan.html file then attach the bdscan.html file to your next post along with a new hijackthis log

    I don't quite know how to show you exactly the popups that I've been receiving. I can tell you that they are advertisement popups, different each time, and they appear randomly on my screen. They aren't html pages. They are pictures and if you click on them, you will then be transfered to the given website. It's like it was a program on my computer generating the popups. I already have a popup blocker, but it doesn't seem to work on these. For now, it's as much as I can say. If you need more specifications (and I'm sure you will!), let me know...

    do this to clean out temps and see if this clears out those ads->Please download Cleanup! and install it. You will use this later.

    *NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temporary folders and does not make backups.

    Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
    Set the program up as follows:

    Click "Options..."
    Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
    Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Cookies
    • Delete Prefetch files (if present)
    • Cleanup! All Users
    • Click on the Temporary Files tab and uncheck the box for Scan drives for files matching if it’s checked.
    Click OK
    Press the CleanUp! button to start the program and reboot when prompted.
