[Solved]Curious

It's been a while since the last time I posted here. First and foremost, I'd like to greet all of the members of Short-Media.com again as well as those who aided me so long ago

This post is primarily to reassure that no new virus or spyware has appeared on my PC. Currently there are no major problems with it but I'd rather kill any problem while it is still small. Thank you for taking your time to look at this:

Also, I currently only have HiJack This, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and a Sygate Personal Firewall protecting my computer (2/3 recommended by this site ). Are there any more recommendations for programs that can protect my PC?

Once again, thank you in advance for reviewing my logs and any suggestions.

    Hi ChibiBifu,

Your HijackThis log is clean. However, your not using an Anti-Virus program :hair: We'll need to do a scan or two just to make sure nothing is hiding from HijackThis.

But first, you need to download one Anti-Virus program from the list below - They are Free!

    AntiVir << I recommend this
    AVG Free Edition
    avast! 4 Home Edition

Run a full system scan of your chosen Anti-Virus and let it quarantine whatever it finds. Make a note of any problem files.

I would like to see another log from HijackThis.
    • Run Hijackthis.
    • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
    • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
    • Press the Save list button.
    • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
    • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.

      Hi ChibiBifu!

      Your logs are clean now.

      You can delete ComboFix.

Let me know how things are.
    • edited December 2006
:honoes: Wow that was quicker than last time. There's a little delay when Windows starts up for all of the icons to pop up onto the screen but other than that, everything is fine. :thumbup

      Thanks for everything!

Removing these entries with HijackThis should help speed up Windows.

      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HostManager] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1139440148\ee\AOLSoftware.exe
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPHSend] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\IPHSend\IPHSend.exe
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitTorrent] "C:\Program Files\BitTorrent\bittorrent.exe" --force_start_minimized

Removing them won't cause any problems and they can be started manually when needed.

      Also, regarding this entry:

      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tgcmd] C:\Program Files\Support.com\bin\tgcmd.exe /server /startmonitor /deaf

Read this and then decide if you want to keep or remove the entry. It is your choice.

Please let me know what you decide.

Removed the first four and it did indeed speed up my computer's start up speed.

Lastly, I have a fair idea of what the second part of the post means but not too positive what approach I should take. What do you recommened?

      Who is your Internet Provider?
    • edited December 2006
When I'm in Miami (3/4 of the year) it's Comcast and when I am in New York, it's Optimum Online.

This is a tough one. I would keep it just to be on the safe side, although I don't think it should cause a problem if removed.

Let me know what you decide.
    • edited December 2006
I'll keep it on the side just to take the safe route as you suggested.

Thank you again for taking your time out to help me. I really appreciate it.
