DDR2 800 for a ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe

edited December 2006 in Hardware
Does anyone have an opinion on what DDR2 800 I should consider for the ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe? I only need a 1GB pack (or rather can only afford that). I prefer getting the 1GB pack, but would consider just a single if the price is good for the chip.

I am considering the following from newegg:

Crucial ($160):
Model=BL2KIT6464AA804
item=N82E16820146566
Corsair XMS2 ($124):
Model=TWIN2X1024A-6400
item=N82E16820145566
OZC Platinum ($113 after mail in rebate):
Model=OCZ2P8001GK
item=N82E16820227082

Also, is it a good idea to purchase an open box ASUS board from newegg?

    I think others can comment on the memory recommendation more accurately than me since I do not have ASUS M2N. I only have good experience with Crucial and Kingston on other boards.

    I bought probably 6 or more motherboards as open-box (or refurbished as they defined broadly in the past) from Newegg. None of them failed, all of them performed as if they were new. Some of them arrived as barebones (i.e. without the accessories in a white box), the others as if they were new (i.e. including all accessories in the retail package). I bought the brands Abit, ASUS, MSI, and Asrock, and recommend you to stick with top-tier manufacturers. If the io backplate is not included, you can buy from Ebay, or ask technical service of manufacturer to send you (usually for a fee). They list the items several times a week and the popular boards are sold out very quickly, you have to be watching the lists frequently when you are on the market to buy. And, sometimes the open-box prices are so close to the new product that it does not make sense to buy. It is always a risk to buy open-box but my experience has been extremely positive and saved a lot of money. This is just my experience .... good luck !

    By the way, take note that Newegg does not replace open-box products anymore. They can be returned in 15(?) days, and there is a restocking fee if the product is not defective.
