I just cant seem to watch streaming videos online such as news or anyting that uses WMP for streaming videos

the box just turns black but i do have audio, thats about it,

I tried EVERYTHING but NOTHING works! i installed codecs, reinstalled the program, used mozilla, used IE

but no matter what i do, the situation seems to be unaffected.

I would be so happy if anyone can provide any help!!!!

If you're using the Windows Media Player 11 edition try and roll back to the version 10.

    I'm no expert but:-
Is the player communicating at the correct connection speed to the server, if not the server may try to thin the stream.

You can prevent this from happening accidentally by manually specifying the connection speed, by doing the following:

    1.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab.

    2.
In the Connection speed area, click Choose connection speed, and then select the appropriate connection speed.

    Might work for you

What kind of monitor/ graphics card are you using?

Watching videos is a function of the Graphics card. Windows doesn't even see videos (thus the black box).

    Are you getting any sound?

Have you tried reinstalling your video drivers?
