PC reboots immediately after I try to connect to the Internet

edited December 2006 in Hardware
Hi guys,

I have the following problem: whenever I try to connect to the Internet, my PC reboots immediately. Yesterday I was just surfing the web, visiting the pages and forums I always visit when suddenly my pc reboots. SInce then I haven't been able to reconnect.

I have tried the following things to fix the problem..

- While surfing for a solution I found this website http://home.core.com/web/technicalsupport/library/virus/msblaster.html

My problem seems to resemble this description so I used the other link

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

on that page to download the stingers. I ran all the tests and all files are clean according to those scans.

- I also ran AdAware and Spybot. Nothing came up here.

I ran HJT also and it produces the following:

C:\Program Files\Compaq\Easy Access Button Support\CPQEADM.EXE
C:\PROGRA~1\Compaq\EASYAC~1\BttnServ.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Bureaublad\Virus\HijackThis.exe

Im no expert, but I think the R1 files may be spyware or trojans.

This is all I tried, and I really have no clue what to do next.

All help is appreciated.

There is no need for that. It is not our policy to routinely close threads unless they're in the Spyware & Virus Removal subforum. :)

Apologies. My intention was good, as he already corrected his problem and I can't comprehend a purpose for appending a closed issue. Habit I guess, closing calls after they have been resolved...
