[inactive]Files on desktop(XP) I cannot remove or move

I turned my laptop on the other day to discover 5 files on my desktop that do not open, cannot be renamed, moved or deleted.
They are titled as follows:

CA6JKTAZ.
CADZLL02
CAPS2HDZ
CASFGN2Z
CAU7O1UZ

Please understand, I am not very techy, and am mainly a Mac guy.
This is my XP laptop I use for work and travel.

Can someone please advise on how to terminate these things?
