Computer Starts but doesn't BOOT!!

edited December 2006 in Hardware
I have a HP Pavillion a265c. And it froze on me today, so i turned it off and turned it back on. But when i turned it back on the computer would start but it would not boot, nothing came up on the screen, it was completely blank with no signal. I tried unplugging the power and waiting for a minute or so but it still does the same. Can someone help me here!?

Ensure that all cables and cards are seated properly.
Try clearing CMOS by either resetting the jumper or removing the battery.
Remove all add in cards/ systems drives one by one, process of elimination, to see if one of them is causing the problem.

Are you sure that your monitor works?
If so then clear the BIOS and try again.
If you get no boot signal it could be either the graphics or the mobo chipset, or,
Are you sure that everything powers up? Checking the power supply would be a good step about now.

    unplug it from the power.
    open the case
look for the flat 'watch type' battery on the mobo
somewhere in that area there will be a set of pin, they may be marked Bios, or Clear
there will be a jumper across a pair of pins
pull the jumper off and move it to the other pair of pins
hum a short song to yourself
    mover the jumper back
pulg it back in and try to boot.
