Choppy Video

Hi,

I recently have been having a problem with playing videos. They play good, but when there is a lot of action on the screen the video skips and sometimes the audio too. It seems to happen either when the sound gets loud or when there is a lot of motion on the video.

My comp should be able to handle it. It is a new HP laptop with 1G ram and 1.8ghz processor. Please help me. Thanks.

Sorry. It is mainly Dvix and AVI. Not DVDs.

Have you tried reinstalling the codecs and using another media player like Media Player Classic or RealVLC?

Update your video drivers and install the latest codec pack if necessary...

Most codec packs include the Media Player Classic program. Some of the more popular are VLAN player, CCCP, K-Lite Mega, etc.

What processor is it? If a Sempron or Celeron while running on battery mode, try closing all other programs. Ensure that hardware acceleration is enabled under display properties advanced section.
