Update Error

I need your help, I have 2 critical updates from Microsoft, I download and install them, I then reboot and the notification shield comes back saying I need to install them again, The screen from microsoft says downloaded and installed complete, how do I correct this, even today I went and checked the Microsoft Download Page and it shows them to be there for download and install again, PLEASE help, Thank you.

The updates are KB 927978

    Go to Control Panel>>Add or remove programs, check "Show Updates" and see if they are listed there. If they are, uninstall them, make sure they are deleted from the Windows folder (they'll probably be listed in blue with a format like $NtUninstallKB######$ and also linked in $hf_mig$), then try again. :wave:

    I have been having the same problem with 927978 and found a fix somewhere, but didn't save the link. The instructions they gave didn't work for me but I was able to make it work.

    MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978):

    1. Download the update from the following link and save it to your computer:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/2/e/e2e92e52-210b-4774-8cd9-3a7a0130141d/msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe

    2. Run that program and if given an option to remove, click remove. (see note below)

    3. Run that program again and choose install now.

    Note: If step 2 does not give you an option to remove, take the install option and then run steps 2 & 3.

    Worked for me. :)
