also, does the data rate matter at all as far as the wii is concerned?
i tried looking this up, but I couldn't figure it out . What speed are the "official" wii sd cards?

An SD card slot is an SD card slot. It uses any SD card.

I wouldn't worry about speed for the Wii. I'd say the speed of the card would help more in a digital camera that is capable of taking shots in quick succession.

Grab a name-brand SD card that's inexpensive. It will surely work fine in the Wii.

SD stands for Secure Digital - the type of memory card the Wii uses.

    Wii means the Nintendo Wii.

Hey guys, there is a great deal I jumped on last night for my Wii.

1GB SD card for $10 shipped (tax in a few states)
    1. go to http://shop.kingston.com (click)
    2. click on the big "up to 25% OFF" for notebook image on the page
    3. in the memory finder, find Toshiba, and clic on "find" icon
    4. Scroll to Toshiba - Tecra M4 and click on it
    5. you now see the SD card 1GB for $10

Other good deals here. The 1 GB SD card will show up as 15 here however you can get it for 10 with the steps above.

Yes, you can even get them in the UK for as little as £7.99 (about $12-$13) for a 1Gb SD card. Although I went to my local games store over Christmas and Sandisk made a white Wii SD card - the 2Gb is £60 - about $90!!
