AVI file to play on DVD

I want to make a AVI file to play on the DVD. I have done it when I had my HP stuff on here but now I dont have a program. Are there any free programs to do this? I have ALcohol 120% and Nero

    What version of Nero do you have? Is it the crappy little free one that came with your burner, or a retail version? The retail versions contain Nero Vision. Nero Vision will encode .avi files to DVD. The quality isn't the greatest though. A nice freeware app to use is The Film Machine. But you will need third party encoders and they are not free.     Or you could user SUPER which is free from end to end.
