Unable to host servers on Halo:Combat EVolved

hey i am having a problem hosting servers on Halo..I have a Linksys WRT45G v5 router that i am hooking up to via LAN connection. I have unblocked the ports, but im not sure if i have done everything right, because nobody is able to join my games. I would appreciate any help. thanks.

    ur_mom I've seen this but haven't responded as I haven't used port forwarding for game server stuff. zero.counter just showed us a good resource at http://portforward.com/.

    Assuming you've done the port forwarding correctly, the next thing that comes to mind right away is what sort of firewall do you have? And...have you dealt with that? Please tell me you don't have that Norton Internet Security?

    Whatever you have, try turning off your firewall temporarily. That's not a perfect test as many software firewalls still have processes running and blocking things when they are supposedly turned off.

    i mainly wanted to make sure i had my router configured correctly, something may not be right with the technical stuff.

    ok i am hooked directly to the router now and ppl are able to join my games through direct ip, but not from the main lobby. I don;t know whats wrong...PLZ HELP!!

    main lobby? Is that a Halo thing or another computer?

    yea on halo there is a lobby where all the servers are listed. This is where players join the games online.

    ur_mom..............I think you might be better off at a gamer forum. In fact, there’s one here at Short-Media. This thread is networking guys….and although you have a networking problem, I think you need people who speak your language and have worked your problem. I’ll move this over there…

    ur_mom, which ports have you forwarded, and did you forward them to the correct IP address on your network?
