    Hello. :)

That file seems to be associated with "Borland Delphi 4 packed library" which involves ActiveX controls or the use of Broadband over Power Line. Do either of these sound familiar to you?

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org , click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\gkcgi.dll
Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

Run HijackThis and place a checkmark by the following entry:
    O21 - SSODL: gkcgi.dll - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000068589} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gkcgi.dll
Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis and restart the computer.

    1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
    • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
    • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

    2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):
    Files to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\gkcgi.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

    3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
    • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
    • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
    • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
    • Click Done
    • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
    • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
    4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
    • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
    • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
    • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
    • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
    5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply

Have you been fixing those HijackThis entries I listed out in my previous post? Or did they reappear when you rescan with HijackThis?
  • edited January 2007
I reinstalled my windows to fix a bootup error. I had to do it to get my computer to boot up at all. I don't know what the problem was but the popup is still there but only when I try to startup my internet explorer. So it is better but not gone. Please keep helping me if you can.

    Hello.

Please boot to safe mode by following the instructions below:
    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

While in safe mode, run a scan with HijackThis and fix the following entries:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {465E08E7-F005-4389-980F-1D8764B3486C} - (no file)
    O21 - SSODL: gkcgi.dll - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000068589} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gkcgi.dll

Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Close HijackThis and restart the computer. You should get back to normal mode.

In normal mode, run a new scan with HijackThis and post the results in your next reply.

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

    sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

You will need your Windows CD in this event.
