Cooling an R9700
I am in a rush here.
I am almost on my way to a lan party.
And of course I wouldn't bring my old GF2 GTS.
I have tried mounting a Crystal Orb on my R9700.
It isn't a huge success it crashes during 3Dmark after it has been lagging through a couple of tests.
I have put on extra AS3 as my first try with the cooler went all wrong.
It crashed during the first test.
I can't keep on putting AS3 on it.
What can I do?

I am switching back to my GF2 GTS
No fun in going to a lan when you have a crappy gfx.
Oh well one of them has a wannabe GF4.
A GF4MX
At any rate, the design of the shim and thermal pad on the stock R9700 cooler is such that if you try to put something else on there, the new cooler is not in contact with the core, therefore it's like actually having no heatsink on there at all. You're MUCH better off with the stock 9700 HSF...
I wondered, the stock heatsink seems flat.
They must have used a lot of paste to make contact.
