Info About Express Upgrade from XP to Vista

So I'm planning on building a new pc and putting vista on it eventually... I could use to own a full copy of XP Pro, and would like this optimal scenario. Let me know if this sounds like what they're offering... I would like to buy Windows XP Pro right now and when available, be able to obtain a FULL version of Windows Vista Ultimate.

I guess my questions are as follows:

1. Does the express upgrade allow for upgrade from XP to Vista Ultimate?
2. Does the express upgrade really mean upgrade? or clean install with the newer OS?
3. Is there some kind of catch with activation so that provided that I am supplied with a clean installing copy of vista I still wouldn't be able to use the copy of XP on another computer??

If anyone has solid info on this it'd be much appreciated... It's so frustrating the microsoft can't just "net" this out... I wish they had a marketing page for computer users and a technical info page for "enthusiasts." It's difficult to extract useful info from from literature that is heavily soiled with marketing. Thanks.

    1. Yes.
    2. Really means upgrade.
    3. The licenses are, as far as I'm aware, separate. Vista on one PC, XP on another.

Okay, now a follow up question: Any idea if they've got a copy of XP for sale anywhere with an upgrade coupon to Vista Ultimate??? Or can I get a copy of XP with a coupon for and upgrade to Vista Media Center (or the like) and then pay a little extra to upgrade to Vista Ultimate?
