Command line options:
/verbose - to add additional info on each section
/complete - to include empty sections and unsuspicious data
/full - to include several rarely-important sections
/force9x - to include Win9x-only startups even if running on WinNT
/forcent - to include WinNT-only startups even if running on Win9x
/forceall - to include all Win9x and WinNT startups, regardless of platform
/history - to list version history only
I believe I did that blocking in the beginning when I had the problem when I was speaking with the other gentleman. If you go back and see, you'll see where I did that. I believe when I did that, it stopped showing in my history then. Then I went ahead and I believe I removed all of them to try and repair. After removing, they never showed in the history again so I'm not sure if maybe I forgot to remove one or what.
For version with the Installer:
Use the setup program to install ERUNT on your computer
For the zipped version:
Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.
Click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.
Note: to restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe
2. Go here and follow Step 4 - To delete the value from the registry. Note: Step 4e may not exist.
3. : Restoring Internet Security Settings
1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
2. Open Control Panel. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Internet Options icon.
4. In the Internet Properties window, click the Security tab.
5. For each Web content zone, click on the Default Level button to set each zone to the default setting.
6. Click OK.
The only changes made during step 4 was the values in the registry. None of the other items were found. Now when I previously tried this, i followed all the steps from symantec and there weren't any changes, including the registry values. It appears I am still having the same problems, I cannot get onto certain websites, microsoft update will not work, symantec is now showing on the task bar, etc.
Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop (choose "I ACCEPT" then click "DOWNLOAD" on the website).
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, click > "Scan" then > "Next".
You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name "fsbl.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log" (the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and paste this log in your next reply. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"
Here you go. I did have to download it on another computer then transfer it over because I could not get to the website. That was one of the ones that seems to be not allowing me access.
I'm lost too. I tried reinstalling windows XP, well I tried to do an upgrade and I still have the same problems after that installation completed. It seems the only sites I cannot visit are ones that have something to do with logging in. IE. e-bay, myspace, AOL. Also I cannot get onto Windows Update either. Hm.. I was going to try one of the system repaires that comes with the computer (its a compaq) but I'm afraid of loosing information on this computer. Its a computer at our ambulance building that we do all of our patient reports on.

We'll need to do a Registry fix. I'll be back soon with that.
You're going to be editing the Registry, so lets back it up first.
1. Backup Your Registry with ERUNT
- Please use the following link and scroll down to ERUNT and download it.
- For version with the Installer:
- For the zipped version:
Click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.http://aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php
Use the setup program to install ERUNT on your computer
Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.
6. Click OK.
Let me know when that is done and if it helped/
The only changes made during step 4 was the values in the registry. None of the other items were found. Now when I previously tried this, i followed all the steps from symantec and there weren't any changes, including the registry values. It appears I am still having the same problems, I cannot get onto certain websites, microsoft update will not work, symantec is now showing on the task bar, etc.
Let me know.

Is your Hosts file blocking anything?
notepad C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Copy and paste the entire Notepad file back here.
Host File Log:
# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a "#" symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
I'm trying to think of what else to try.
