Multiple Problems and Getting Frustrated!!
Hi Folks.
Firstly thanks for the oppurtunity to post and hopefully get some advice on my PC issues.
A few months ago I had a notice pop up via Norton telling me a Trojan had attempted to harm my system. All very dramatic at the time and I thought all was well as both an online scan and my resident antivirus (Norton) told me all was well and revealed nothing. Around this time I downloaded the IE7 update.
A few weeks ago I noticed my incomming emails were missing their active content. I use Ebay quite a bit and the pics usually visible within the email are now just URL addresses. I also noticed that Norton did not seem to update efectively and parts of the System Works programs did not work at all. I uninstalled Norton and installed a trial version of Escan.
I then began to worry and looked around at different on line scans and anti-spam scans and in doing this found quite a few items of Spyware and what was left of virus activity.
I regularly use Adaware and AOL's Spyware protection.
I now can not seem to look at more than a few pages of any web site before I get an Internet Explorer page appear telling me it can not display the content.
I have followed the procedure in the Forum posted by TROGAN prior to posting this BUT can not get IE to surf directly to the on line scan pages so have had to use AOL. Also although the antispam programs installed and ran okay only the Panda acivecan worked as the Kaspersky Online and BitDefender online scan would not work as the ActiveX could not be installed. I have checked the IE settings and changed to medium but this seems not to make a difference. I have therefore only mangaged the Panda Activescan and a trial version of Escan (Kapersky).
I have Zone Alarm and Win XP SP2.
The Escan log showed the following:-
