Hi, currently having some problems occuring at random intervals.

Svchost throws up an error, then i loose lan/file sharing ability, services stop but can be restarted manually, internet becomes slower, sound sometimes stops.
All probs are fixed by a reboot.

System scanned with a/v and a/s utilities. Hijackthis log is clean, reasonably fresh install.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a screen shot to help out, and i have the dump file as well, but it's 20mb so i won't post it unless it's needed.

System Specs:
Intel Core 2 E6400
Abit AW9D-Max
Corsair 2gb ddr2 6400C4
XFX 8800GTS
Creative X-Fi Plat
Corsair 620w PSU
WD Raptor 74gb (OS)
Other hdd's for storage
2 dvd Burners
Running Windows XP Pro

Thanks, regards Michael

Have you been to the Event Viewer in the management console (right click on "My Computer", then click "Manage")? The red X errors under System might provide more information on the process that is using svchost and producing the error.

I've had a look there but it just shows exactly yhe same info as the screen shot, doesn't actually reference any other details.

But i have just noticed another error shortly after the last few times in the log.
    Details Below:
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Application Error
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1001
    Date: 19/01/2007
    Time: 7:20:19 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: DANCER-009
    Description:

Perhaps this may help a bit.

    Thanks, regards Michael

Hey Michael. Do you have another NIC you can use for the moment?
(IOW, uninstall or disable your current NIC and use the replacement NIC for a while - see if the problem persists...)

Ok, got one of those, broadcom chipset, and it made no difference.
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks.
