When AMD acquired ATI, the ever famous R600 DX10 GPU had already been in development, and from what we have heard over the last 8 months, this chip has been plagued with bugs and issues from day one. It looks as if AMD has finally ironed things out and has a final spin in its hands. With any luck we may be able to purchase this monster by the end of March.

Isn't ATI still a uniform entity that is merely owned by AMD? Can't imagine that AMD had anything to do with bringing R600 to mass production. AMD R600 would then be a misnomer. Nobody called the Voodoo 5 5500 an nVidia card back in the day.

That's because the V5 5500 was produced when Voodoo was owned by Voodoo. The V5 6000, or was it the V6? That would've been branded as an nVidia part.

And I'm sure AMD engineers had a hand in ironing out bugs on the final revisions since it's been several months since AMD acquired ATI.

AFAIK, chipsets/CPU's will have the AMD name (AMD Rxxx or RDxxx or some new naming scheme)

I do not know if AMD is going to dissolve the ATI Radeon or just remove ATI name on the Vid cards or not.

The Radeon name will still be alive, but the boxes will also have AMD logos on them, so either or both sides are right. I could have sworn I saw a few new box designs with the AMD logo on them somewhere...

I was thinking the same sledge, I thought I recently saw a Radeon box at the store with the AMD logo on it. Maybe it was a dream, I've been having alot of those lately :P
