The biggest thing I have seen is people are just learning about Dual Core and they want it. The average consumer ends up buying a AMD system as they are dual core and cheaper than the Intel offerings "such as Dell, HP, & EMachines". While Intel holds the lead for the fastest set of CPU's AMD is still pretty competitive in its offerings. AMD also offers the upgrade path to quad core as well, so most users really don't care overall.

The point is the deciding factor is the average consumer. If they are going to buy what’s new and what is cheap that that is what they are going to do :)

The big thing about is 40% worth the wait? When Conroe came out it was only 20% faster than AMD, and in some remote cases up to 33% faster. a 40% increase will be something high end users will jump on and the industry will follow if it is indeed true. Also if gaming on a native quad core proves to be faster than Intel's offerings, once again we will see the QFX system come back to life. This is all really speculation, but if it comes to pass the industry will flip flop again, like it always has...

Also... still not knowing if a native quad core setup will perform better than a non-native is a huge question right now, if it is faster native wise, AMD will have the upper hand in the Native Quad setup for time to come, as Intel is still trying to make a Native chip "which will not be seen with their 45nm process.” AMD will be able to move right to 45nm with a Native core, eliminating that tech research that Intel is still doing.

Google gets back on Intel track

It was Sun last week and Google this week. The reason of AMD's concerns is becoming even more clear. If they do not deliver the performance lead they claim, we can expect that processor prices will be increasing. I hope they do, but in any case 2007 will be a very difficult year for AMD. If they deliver, it will be a good year for the consumer :)

Also to note, both companies have not said they will be dropping AMD, they just said they are adding Intel to their lineups...
