Needing a little help regarding game controllers on my brother's computer

On my brother's new computer I built, with the EPoX EP-AF550G Pro, a Logitech Rumblepad 2 Vibration Feedback that he bought intermittently works when connected, and when it does work, the controller freezes up. When connected to my computer it works like it is supposed to. I have a KD7-RAID, if you need to know. The gamepad uses 500mA if this matters.

Is the gamepad defective or is it his motherboard?

He has a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick connected, and it works flawlessly (it uses 40mA).

The joystick has it's own power supply doesn't it?
Check the motherboard manual to ensure all usb ports supply the same power. I imagine they do, but it is worth a check. Or simply try it in different ports. Or maybe a powered hub might help.

No, the joystick is powered by the USB hub.

The joystick works in the front ports (the 6 available ports on the motherboard), but not the rear 4 ports. Windows says the device is unrecognized and that a usb device has malfuncted (at least earlier when I was playing around, its still connected to my computer)
