DVD-Rom drive problem

edited February 2007 in Hardware
Hi! I've had a bit of a problem lately and I'm hoping you can help me out. I have the following in my PC:

ASUS DVD-ROM E608
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D

Whenever I put a music disc in the Pioneer and open up the folder every track is exactly 44kb long. When I do the same with the ASUS I'm lucky if it reads it at all! Any ideas?

I don't know why your ASUS is having a problem reading the music disc. Try going here http://support.asus.com/download and find your model and try to update the dvd-rom firmware. The reason that you only see each track being 44kb is that's how windows recognizes it. If you have a cd ripping tool it will decode the raw .wav file on the cd to an .mp3 or another file type of your choice.

Where it says General Download make sure your selection for product is OPTICAL STORAGE.
    For select series select DVD-ROM.
    For select model choose DVD-E608.
Make sure to follow the firmware upgrade instructions carefully as to not turn that dvd-rom into a nice paper weight.

Did what you said mate and it says no new firmware required. Thanks for your input anyway.
