How To Repair Windows?

I have no resetore/recovery discs and I was just wondering if there was a way to repair Windows, for example with another XP disc or something? I think I "accidentaly" deleted some files when trying to delete some virus infected files and I think I deleted some that were essential for Windows to work correctly. This is usually a fast machine 3.06GHz with 512MB but now it's just slow as hell. I'm having trouble with simple tasks like renaming a music folder or any other misc. folder because Windows freezes for a few seconds.
