HJC log

Hey guys, my log is to follow. My problem is that some sort of popup comes up every hour or so (sometimes even 5 times in an hour), launches IE (even if I use Firefox) and then leave as many exe's in the temp directory as it managed to launch in that timeframe.
I tried using every spyware and virus application I could grub up on the web and all to no avail... help me pls :)

P.s
The hijack log was taken whilst one of these *exe was not in memory, should I take it again when it does launch up?

    Alright, now here's the same log with one of these *.exe files (the name seems to be chosen randomly) booted up together with IE:

    Do yourself a favour and get an anti virus program and a firewall. I see neither of those running. Comodo offer a free version firewall and Avast and AntiVir are very good AV's.

    ==

    Can you please do the following.

    ===============

    Let's look for, and delete, any program segments (prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the 'problems' we're trying to remove from your PC. To do this, let's:

    1) Click "Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

    497920400.exe*

    2) Then if any are found in the 'prefetch' folder, delete them.

    Look closely, since the 'base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

    ===============

    Run HiJackThis then:

    1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
    2. Click "Open Process manager"

    -

    Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

    C:\DOCUME~1\alexa\LOCALS~1\Temp\497920400.exe

    Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

    ===============

    Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

    O2 - BHO: C:\windows\System32\zdPrypt.dll - {8A5849C4-93F3-429D-FF34-660A2068897C} - C:\windows\System32\zdPrypt.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Services Host] scchost.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Services Host] scchost.exe

    O16 - DPF: {8A5849C4-93F3-429D-FF34-660A2068897C} (C:\windows\System32\zdPrypt.dll) -

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: stp68_2007 - C:\windows\SYSTEM32\stp68_2007.dll

    Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

    ===============

    Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

    files...

    C:\DOCUME~1\alexa\LOCALS~1\Temp\497920400.exe
    C:\windows\System32\zdPrypt.dll
    C:\windows\SYSTEM32\stp68_2007.dll

    Search for...

    scchost.exe

    ...using "Start | Search...".

    -

    Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
    Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

    -

    Reboot.

    ===============

    To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files:

    Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time:

    1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed.
    2) Next, "Enable all protection".
    3) Exit the program.

    -

    Note: Remember to regularly check for updates.

    ===============

    Download CCleaner and install, then run it.
    1. Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".
    2. Click on Run Cleaner in the lower right-hand corner. This can take quite a while to run.
    3. Close when finished.

    ==

    After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

    Huge thx for your reply! But I before I do that, one question - that filename I gave you is just one of the files that is usually run - next time it might be something completely different (for example just a couple of minutes ago it was "99403984.exe". Deleting the files doesn't really help, and neither does killing the process (I tried doing that using spy and ad killers).

    Now I'll try going through every other steps you provisioned and get back to you with the results.

    Alright, I did as you say and here's the log file:
    BTW I do have an AntiVirus running (C:\PROGRA~1\DrWeb\spidernt.exe /agent), but no firewall (I used to have Zone Alarm but is slowed down my entire traffic and locked up the system + generated lots of errors - do you have any good firewall proggie for me?)

    Your log looks ok now, but you may want to run AVG anti-spyware just to possibly clean up some more stuff.

    Please download and install AVG antispyware tool
    • Close all other Applications Select language click Ok
    • Click I Agree
    • Click next
    • Click Install
    • Click Finish
    • Wait and AVG antispyware will open to the main screen automatically.
    • Wait again a few minutes and AVG antispyware Should Auto update itself. If it doesn't click update at top of screen.
    • This is very important to get updates
    • When updating has finished. Close AVG antispyware.
    If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.
    • Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
    • For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: HERE

      You MUST manage to get into Safe Mode for the fix to work.
    Make sure to close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while AVG antispyware performs its scan!
    • Run AVG antispyware.
    • Click on scanner at top of AVG antispyware sceen.
    • Click on Settings.
    • Under How to Act click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine.
    • Under How to scan all boxes should be selected.
    • Under Possibly unwanted software all boxes should be selected.
    • On right side under Reports: click on Automatically generate report after every scan.
    • Under What to scan select scan every file.
    • Click On scan Tab.
    • Click on Complete system scan.
    • Let the program scan the machine It can take awhile give it time.
    • When scan has finished at bottom of screen click Apply all Actions.
    • Click Save report
    • Click Save Report as (Save as window's screen should pop up.)
    • Click desktop.
    • Click Save.
    • Exit AVG antispyware.
    Reboot back to normal mode.
    Post the log here.
