 How do I set my dialog boxes to pop up on the corresponding monitor that the program is on. Trying to use AutoCAD on monitor 2 and the laptop monitor for everthing else. But my AutoCAD boxes pop up on the laptop monitor.

Using:
Windows XP
ATI Catalyst Control Center, Version 1.2.2314.20337
Display is set to Extended
Have AutoCAD maximized on screen 2
Laptop is default monitor or screen 1

Thanks in advanced for any help..
Jessica

Jessica... As far as I know, all the dialog boxes are generated on the primary display. Anyone else verify this?

I have been running dual monitors for over 3 years and as far as I know, in XP anyways, MOST apps are defaulted to the primary display. I don't think there is a way (without some serious hacking) to change this... although AutoCAD is a really popular app and I wouldn't doubt if there is a solution out there for you.

Maybe one of our AutoCAD gurus around here will have more info for you

    cheers :D

I asked another office doing this successfully and they said they got a fm20.dll file from Microsoft to fix it.

He tried sending me the file via email and it would go thru from his end - his email server kept blocking it due to possilble virus.. Do you know how he could send the .dll file to me, he also tried zipping it up but didn't work.

I searched online for this file but the one fm20.dll found on Microsoft.com did not fix it for me - it just saids it's a patch, mainly for security issues.

What "didn't work" about zipping it? That's the standard for sending most filetypes via email - you can put any dll or exe file into a zip and send it, and it should work

As prime says, I'm not sure why that wouldn't work. As far as I know it doesn't auto scan the contents of the zip but who knows :o

If the zip trick doesn't work try using a website to transfer the file, I recommend http://www.yousendit.com/ . A couple semesters ago I was on a machine and had to send myself some visual basic files (which is like a death file) and that services worked out fine.

    cheers :cheers3:

.dll file came thru fine from yahoo account.

OKAY! fixed it by setting desktop monitor to be the primary display #1 (where I want Acad to be) and laptop #2.. seems to working good now.

    Thanks guys.
