XP Profesional stalls at Desktop 45 sec
My computer's info:
Windows XP Pro SP2
2.4ghz AMD 64 X2 4600+ processor
2 gigs of PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) RAM
80 gig hard drive
256 meg ATI X1300 Pro video card
(2) 16X DVD burners
Internet Virgin: never connected
It takes about 10 seconds for my computer to reach the desktop. Once I'm at the desktop, the taskbar freezes, yet I'm able to open every shortcut (file, folder, and application) on the desktop, including "My Computer." I can access everything on the desktop except the taskbar.
After 30 to 45 seconds, the taskbar unfreezes, and whatever window I'm viewing at that time closes. What's going on?
BTW: I went to MSCONFIG and disabled every item one by one until no items were enabled, yet the taskbar still froze each time.
