1600+ is 1.4Ghz by the way.;) 1.4 ghz of AMD power and more cache.

Performace will be a lot better than before tho.

Out of curiosity, why not a 1700+?

I understand they make better overclockers than the 1600+'s.

Unless its an older Pali. Then the 1660+ AGIOA OCs better

Kinda sounds like a used system. Not sure if you can guy KX7s at some places. My guess is that they came in a pair. EBay or something maybe.

Do you guys think KX7's are good?

They were the best about May 2002 and around then. Best of the KT333 boards. Best as in OCing.

I am on one right now actually. 1800+ at 2.14GHz. The KX7 is the limiting factor in my OCing tho. No locked AGP/PCI bus.

is the AGP on them 4x or 8x? it seems that many of Abits boards are 4x

These were built back in the 4x days.

Do you have an 8x video card?
  • JengoJengo Pasco, WA | USA
    edited October 2003
yeah, but it really doesnt matter, the performace boost with going to 8x isnt really all that great, although its still good to have

i am still happy as a HORSE!!!!

Am i wrong in thinking that an 8x card will not work in a 4x slot?
  • JengoJengo Pasco, WA | USA
    edited October 2003
yeah you are wrong, i have my 8x card running in a 2x slot, LOL yeah, thats how bad this computer is

Thats like saying a 200 FSB Duron wont work in a NF7-S v2.0 which supports 400FSB.

Backwards compatibility my man. It will just run at 4x or 2x as it is now.

And I thought you were getting off? And that was awhile ago.

Hmmm yes, makes very much sense. Prime is going to have a fun day tomorrow...I mean later today.;)

Good thing I dont have to get early at all. No school this week.

Actually, vid cards which require all power from the AGP slot aren't very stable when placed in a slot slower than they are made for. This is because most of the 1-2X slots could not support the amprage needed by most 4-8X boards.

KX7 supports Agp 4x which all videocards the last 2 years also do. Newer cards that support 8x also support 4x.

However, at high fsb, the KX7 might be a little cranky with 4X. At least with Radeon 8500, Ti 4600 etc.
