Access denied

One of my computers has just developed a problem. I try to open the folders in program files folder. I get a message that says: Access denied. This problem just started this past week and the only thing I changed is that I changed the C drive to sharing on the network.
This problem makes it so I cant use any programs. Any ideas??

Reshare the folder and double-check your permissions when you do it.

I think we are both right. The more I think about it, I am pretty sure I have seen installations of Pro where it is enabled in normal mode and some where it isn't. (perhaps it is a policy setting somewhere, but i've never seen it?)
EDIT: Methinks the tab only shows up in normal mode while joined to a domain, could be wrong tho!
ANYWAY! Kristof2, you may need to boot into safe mode to see the "Security" tab in the folder properties, then just follow what Thrax posted and you should be in good shape.
Also,
I've always been warned not to share the root of any drive, especially the boot volume. Not sure if that warning holds water. Thrax??
I'm not refereeing that one. What I do know is that you have Simple File Sharing checked on your XP Pro machine. Thatโs why Security isnโt showing up. Go to Control Panel> Folder Options> View. Scroll to the bottom and uncheck Simple File Sharing. How youโve got a real XP Pro machine.
Thrax will back me up on this one. NO, never share the root. Move anything you want to share to a folder where you can better control who gets where. Make it hard for a hacker. Don't leave the front door open.
I'm not suggesting anyone share the root of the drive, that's big, bad idea.

Hope I didn't come across as challenging, Thrax has the Guru badge for a reason
I was more confused than anything! I always wondered what simple file sharing was, what else does it affect?
