Just got the demo and I must say it is pretty sweet! Just FYI you only get to play GDI in the demo so NOD fanboys will have to wait. There are a lot of nuances added to the game which I think will add a lot to strategies employed by players. My favorite improvement right now would have to be the Ion Cannon, it went from the worst super weapon in the original game and became OMFG amazing.

Its a beyond sweet demo.. you get the tutorial, 2 Campaign Missions and an option to play skirmish on 1 map but vs. 4 different AI settings.

Hey guys I also found a way to play NOD in the Demo! so sneaky :) I can't believe EA didn't see this coming...

If you want to play NOD just clik on the darked out NOD name and press the letter "N" and bam your NOD :) this will not work for the Scrin faction as their units or buildings are not in the game, so it will be an instant loss :)

You can also change the AI Personality type for the AI buy doing the same thing as above but for Rusher click "R" for Turtle click "T" for Guerilla "G" and for Steamroller click "S"

Good luck and have fun :)

Well after playing through the demo (All I have left to do is beat skirmish on brutal) I think its pretty good. The game definitely seems like it will be more fast paced than it used to be (Due to the multiple queuing of units, buildings etc) and I don't really know if I like that or not. The differences between Nod and GDI are fairly significant and should offer a different play style for each although I see Nod being harder to play after trying them out on the demo. Graphics are so so and I really REALLY wish I could zoom out more.

All in all it seems like it will be very good but as for something new and different it seems to be lacking, nothing really groundbreaking here.

    SUPREME COMMANDER > all.

This RTS troll brought to you by the number 42 and a hatred of EA.

I felt the same way, but I don't think every RTS makes me feel that way.

Now, Civ4 got it right: You can zoom out to the entire globe if you feel so inclined.

Right, which is why I have never played an RTS that zooms out enough.

CB I have a feeling you will like Supreme Commander if you like a Zoom feature :) try the demo out :)

I personally like the arcade style of RTS games such as Starcraft, AOE series, AOM series, WC series, BFME series etc... but I also wouldn't mind a bit more zoom :) I think Company of Heroes offered a really cool Zoom feature but it was more FPS based than "GOD" mod

Isn't it great? Continental/global tactical overhead maps are incredible.

I've only played one level, and I'm not sure I can ever again play an RTS that doesn't zoom out to a tactical map. I played almost the whole time out at the tactical level, I only zoomed in to see stuff blow up, or to tell units apart which were very close together.

I hope that feature eventually catches on for the other RTS franchises. I want to play Age of Empires and Warcraft with this engine.

I've got a Best Buy card that says I'm getting this but I may just hold out till C&C3 simply because my roommates like it and will play it with me...

I was thinking the same thing at first (except my friends don't live with me), but then I decided that I liked this game enough that I would even really like to play through the Single Player campaign, where I would likely only play C&C3 when my friends want to play (and thusly would always loose miserably, because I'd never have played it by myself like they have, which is what always happens when we play C&C games).

When it comes time to play some LAN games, they'll be disapointed that I chose Supreme over C&C, but I decided not to put my Best Buy rewards certificates toward a game I don't want, just to appease my friends.

Eh, it wouldn't really be appeasing for me, it'd be more along the lines of I enjoy thrashing them mercilessly so much that I just can't pass up on that opportunity!

Heh, yeah... I guess if I was any good at RTS games at all, I might feel the same way... but I need to play a game that's fun to lose... ;)
