<B>In an interesting development, Intel have announced a new "performance utility" for their latest motherboards, the D865PERL & D875PBZ. Why interesting? Well yesterday, nVidia launched their "performance utility" for nForce2/3 series boards. However, the ability to use the nVidia utility is based on motherboard manufacturers updating their BIOS's to support it, which is currently lacking at the time of this announcement. [blockquote]Now you have control over your desktop PC—you can easily tune, customize, cool, stress, quiet, or test the system. Intel® Desktop Control Center is designed to help you improve system stability, optimize performance, and control cooling and acoustic characteristics.

Available only on performance and enthusiast Intel® Desktop Boards
D865PERL & D875PBZ, this dynamic application allows you to do more with your desktop board than ever before. Intel Desktop Control Center enables you to perform stress tests to verify system stability and to conduct performance testing to measure the impact of system configuration changes. The built-in system gauges dynamically display temperatures, bus speeds, and usage percentages so you can observe the effects of various system modifications in real-time.[/blockquote]

[blockquote]This easy-to-use console allows you to fine-tune fan speeds and performance settings, verify system stability, and check performance gains without rebooting into the BIOS. And once you have tuned the system to your liking, the settings can be stored as presets so you can quickly shift gears between “quiet operation” and “gaming mode".[/blockquote]
<b>Looks interesting for Intel platform users. Implemented the right way, Intel could be onto something. It certainly looks good. It's functionality will be the decider though.
